Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
This is my nephew, Haden. Today is his 3rd birthday!! Haden is at that age where everything is exciting and there are no inhibitions. He’s goofy and he knows when he’s making people laugh, so he will become even goofier. He’s not self-conscious yet. He gets shy or nervous, but when he’s with people he feels safe around, he is a little monkey.
He’s already becoming his own little person. He has phrases he uses and faces he makes that are all his own. My favorite is his happy dance. He runs in place and turns in a circle and raises his pointer fingers up jitterbug style and says “oh yeah! oh yeah!” with a giant smile on his face and his eyes closed. It’s quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
Don’t you wish we could keep that childlike disposition? Not worry about what we look like or sound like. For the most part (there are tantrums, of course) Haden’s life is joy and adventure. What a gift he is.
p.s. his favorite game with me is the “sleeping game” that I made up in .3 seconds one day; in which I pretend to be sleeping and he “wakes me up” with a raspberry on my arm, or my foot, or my eye! Oy. 🙂
